A Puget Sound native, Doug graduated from Princeton University (go Tigers), University of Washington School of Law (go Huskies), and UPS Business School (go Loggers).

Doug was one of original public defenders for Pierce County. He worked in the Department of Assigned Counsel for 31 years, earning an excellent record and the respect of clients, courts, and opposing counsel. For 20 years he has served as Arbitrator, Mediator and Judge ProTem. Doug has now opened his full service law office in the Proctor District.

Doug lives in the North End with his wife and family. His children attend Linfield College (go Wildcats), Western Washington University (go Vikings) and Stadium High School (go Tigers) Doug enjoys any outdoor activity especially with his kids.

After law school Doug served in the United States Navy aboard the LST Whitfield County as Lt. JG . Based in  Japan the Whitfield County toured Southeast Asia including Viet Nam.
